CELABE

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data Celabe collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It covers the Celabe apps for iOS and Android, app.celabe.com (including the wedding websites and event albums made with Celabe), and celabe.com.

1. Who we are

Celabe is operated by Carson Rodrigues, an individual based in Goa, India (“Celabe”, “we”, “us”). We decide how and why your personal data is used. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 that makes us the Data Fiduciary, and under the GDPR and UK GDPR the controller.

Contact: support@celabe.com. For complaints, see the Grievance Officer section below.

2. What we collect

Your account

Your name, email address, password (stored in hashed form, so we never see it) and username. Anything you add to your profile: a profile photo, bio, interests, and a phone number if you choose to give one. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and an account identifier from them.

Your planning

Guest lists (your guests' names, email addresses and RSVP status), budgets, checklists, timelines, saved vendors, invitations and wedding-website content, including photos of the couple.

Event albums

Photos and videos you post to an event album, with their captions and filters, and the people you tag in them.

RSVPs from guests

When a guest answers an RSVP on a wedding website, we collect the answers the couple's form asks for, such as the guest's name and whether they are coming. We share those answers with the couple who invited them.

Vendors and bookings

Enquiries you send to vendors, your bookings, reviews you write, and, if you run a business, the details you give us to claim or manage a vendor listing.

AI assistant

The messages you type or speak to the assistant. See section 4.

Purchases

Records of in-app purchases and subscriptions: the product, date and status. Apple or Google take the payment, so we never see your card details.

Device and app data

Your push notification token, device type, operating system and app version, and error reports when something breaks.

Usage analytics

How the apps and app.celabe.com are used, such as the screens you visit, taps and scrolls, recorded by Microsoft Clarity, including session replays. On app.celabe.com this only runs if you click Allow on the cookie banner. In the apps you can turn it off in Settings > Privacy > Usage analytics.

Job applications and messages to us

If you apply for a job, your name, contact details, cover letter and CV. If you contact us, what you send by email, WhatsApp or our website forms.

What we do not collect

  • Your precise location. We do not track where you are.
  • Camera and microphone recordings, except the photos, videos and voice input you choose to capture. Voice input is turned into text by your phone's own speech recognition (Apple or Google).
  • Religion, caste, marital status, height, family background, occupation or education. Older versions of the app asked for these. We have removed those questions and are deleting the answers already stored.

3. How we use your data, and why we are allowed to

  • To run Celabe for you: your account, planning tools, albums, wedding websites, RSVPs and vendor enquiries. We rely on your consent when you sign up and on our Terms with you.
  • To send notifications about your events, RSVPs and activity. You choose which ones in Settings > Notifications, or turn them off on your phone.
  • To keep Celabe safe: preventing abuse, handling reports, moderating content and fixing errors. Under the DPDP Act these are legitimate uses; under the GDPR, our legitimate interests.
  • To improve Celabe with usage analytics, based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To handle purchases and keep the records tax and accounting law requires.
  • To reply to you and consider job applications.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. The AI assistant and Groq

Celabe has an optional AI assistant that answers event-planning questions. When you use it, the messages you type or speak are sent through Celabe's servers to Groq, Inc. (GroqCloud), an AI service based in the United States, which writes the reply. We send only your message text and the conversation so far. We do not send your name, email, photos or account details. Groq handles this data under its own privacy policy.

Before any message is sent, the app tells you this, names Groq, and asks for your consent. You can say no and still use the rest of Celabe.

5. Who we share data with

People you choose to share with

Event hosts and guests see what you post to an event album. Couples see their guests' RSVPs. Vendors see the enquiries you send them. Wedding websites, and event albums the host has opened, can be viewed by anyone with the link.

When the law requires it

We share data if a law, court order or government authority requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

If Celabe changes hands

If Celabe is sold or merged, your data would move with it under this policy, and we would tell you first.

6. Data outside India

Your account, planning data, photos and videos are stored in Mumbai, India. Some of the providers above process data outside India, mostly in the United States. Indian law allows this except to countries the government restricts. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.

7. Cookies and browser storage

celabe.com sets no tracking cookies. app.celabe.com keeps your sign-in and preferences in your browser so the site works, and sets Microsoft Clarity cookies only if you click Allow. Details are on our Cookie Policy.

8. How long we keep data

  • Account and planning data: until you delete your account.
  • Album photos and videos: until you or the event host delete them, or you delete your account.
  • When you delete your account, your data is removed from our live systems straight away, uploaded files are purged within about 10 minutes, and backup copies are gone within 14 days. See Delete your account.
  • Error reports: only as long as we need them to fix the problem.
  • Usage analytics: Microsoft Clarity keeps it for the periods set out in its own policy.
  • Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
  • Job applications: while we consider your application. Ask us at any time to delete them.
  • Messages to support: as long as we need them to help you.

9. Children

Celabe is not for children. You must be 18 or older to create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.

Celebrations include guests of all ages. Only post photos or videos of children with permission from their parent or guardian. Event hosts can remove any photo or video from their album.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are stored hashed. Only the people who run Celabe can access our servers. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

11. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it, and give you a copy.
  • Correct or update it. Most of it you can edit yourself in the app.
  • Delete it. You can delete your account in the app, or see Delete your account.
  • Withdraw consent you gave, for example to usage analytics or notifications. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.
  • Hear your complaint and resolve it (see the Grievance Officer below).

Under India's DPDP Act you can also nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or become unable to. Under the GDPR or UK GDPR you can also object to processing based on our legitimate interests, ask us to restrict processing, and ask for your data in a portable format.

To use any of these rights, email support@celabe.com from the email address on your account. We reply within 30 days, usually much sooner. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

Carson Rodrigues, Grievance Officer, Celabe, Goa, India.
Email: carson@celabe.com

We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, as India's Information Technology Rules, 2021 require.

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
